Director

Aimee Blesing directs theatre that is actor-driven, physically expressive, and textually rigorous. Her rehearsal rooms balance discipline with play, cultivating ensemble storytelling that feels immediate, dynamic, and alive.

She has directed mainstage productions including Dancing at Lughnasa, The Comedy of Errors, and new devised works at the University of New Hampshire. As Co-Founder and Artistic Director of theatre.unmasked (2011–2018), she directed multiple outdoor Shakespeare productions, including Romeo & Juliet and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, helping establish a vibrant summer performance tradition on the Seacoast of New Hampshire.

Her directing career also includes festival and community productions in Australia, including work at Melbourne’s Midsumma Festival. Across all contexts—university, professional, festival, or youth theatre—Aimee integrates voice, movement, and imagination into the fabric of storytelling.

Her approach draws from Michael Chekhov, Lessac Kinesensics, Moment Work, and classical text analysis, resulting in productions that are physically energized, vocally connected, and emotionally resonant. She is particularly drawn to language-driven plays, ensemble-generated work, and projects that invite bold theatricality.
